Dear Colleagues,
The enclosed address list was promised to participants in the 1986 course, Outcomes of Network Intervention, convened at the American Orthopsychiatric Association in Chicago. I have taken the liberty of including the names of several people who had also been invited as faculty.
The meeting in Chicago was very productive, despite the relatively small enrollment. The faculty represented experience in network intervention from a good range of places and times, and it gave us all an opportunity to see how the field has developed. We found it easy to share a common vocabulary, which provided concepts open and indefinite enough to accomodate the wide diversity of actual practice among us, and I was very pleased in my 13th year of self-conscious network practice to see how much more practical knowledge we have of the phenomena we are dealing with, and how much more sophisticated we are about adapting our technical approach to the specific network situation we confront.
I would like to keep aware of what is going on in the field, and am willing to help move information through the network of network interventionists. If any of you wish to circulate, propose, or start debate about something you are interested in, I will send it out in a newsletter to others on the current address list. I'll even add names to the list, but, to keep it within manageable limits, I can only accept two from each of you.
I will probably exploit the opportunity to pronounce my opinions on matters involving network therapy, but will forgo it for the moment.
In the interest of information exchange, Carolyn Attneave has asked me to let people know that she is looking for persons interested in joining a tour of China to observe the operation of their approaches to mental health problems at the neighborhood and community level. Let her know right away if you are interested, because she needs to decide soon whether to conduct it in the late spring or early fall of 1987.
Please let me hear from you.
